Golubtsy is a Russian version of cabbage rolls. Mincemeat and rice or buckwheat is wrapped in cabbage leaf and stewed in a broth. The Golubsty, after being stewed is topped with a mixture of sour cream and tomato sauce.
The lazy version of this or “lenivye golbtsy” is made with the same mixture but the cabbage is chopped and added with the mixture instead of wrapping and stewing.
This dish is commonly eaten during the cold days in Russia and Ukraine.
