Scrabble Tournament Tomorrow, Winner Gets 9 Lakh

The 10th edition of the International Scrabble Tournament will be held from January 9 to 12 at the iGate Campus in Whitefield. iGATE Corporation will host the tournament in association with the Karnataka State Scrabble Association.

The tournament will see international players from over 17 countries participating. The winner will get prize money worth Rs 9 lakh.

“We are happy to associate with a mind sport like Scrabble and are pleased at its decade-long success. Our best wishes to all contestants across the globe coming in to bag the title,” said Srinivas Kandula, EVP and global head, HR, iGATE.

“India’s only international scrabble event, this edition has drawn an overwhelming response from all over the world including countries like the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Nigeria, among others. The participants will play in three divisions – Premier, Open and Newbie in a gruelling 35-game competition,” said Rex D’Souza of Karnataka State Scrabble Association.

The highlight of the tournament will be the scrabble world champion Nigel Richards participating in a word duel with over 100 scrabble players from different countries. Finals of the inter-corporate and inter-collegiate versions of the scrabble tournament will be held on January 12 alongside the international tournament.
