South Bangalore Soiree

South Bangalore has not always been on Foodies maps although it houses a wide range of restaurants from Indian to Italian to Chinese. Having been born and brought up in Bangalore has given me the pleasure of experiencing a few of the oldest and the latest eateries in the city. Here are a few places in South Bangalore which have always given me delight.

Brahmin'sCoffee Bar (Chamarajpet)

One of the oldest food joints in Bangalore known for its famous Idli and Vada, along with its ever famous chutney. It opens quite early and there is a mad rush with barely place to stand. But this is a must try place for any Bangalorean.

Must try: Idly, Vada.

Szechuan Dragon (Basavanagudi)

Located near Hanumanthnagar petrol pump, it's a definite place for inexpensive and fabulous Chinese fare. Having visited this place on multiple occasion, I'm yet to be disappointed. The place serves some wonderful Chinese cuisine, both veg and non-veg. And its comparatively way better than those so-called high class restaurants charging exorbitant prices for their food.

Must try: Chinese Starters, Crispy Threaded Chicken

Hari Super Sandwich (Jayanagar)

The finest sandwich place that I've ever been to. Their sandwiches are quite unconventional, since they do not use sandwich bread, but the normal square bread that's available in bakeries. They have different varieties of sandwiches to suit your palate. They also serve spicy chaats. Their signature dish has to be the Cheese Chilly Sandwich loaded with melted cheese.

Must try: Cheese Chilly Sandwich, Chocolate Sandwich, Dahi Boondhi

Roving Feast (Banashankari)

This tiny place might be around an year old now. But they serve top class food - Salads, Pastas, Rolls, Momos. Just ask for it. My personal favourites here are the rolls and pastas. The rolls are really exquisite and not just stuffed with onions. A total value for money place.

Must try: Rolls and Pastas.

Casablanka (Banashankari)

Casablanka is a really tiny place which can seat about 20 people at a time. However, the word 'tiny' is inversely proportional to the quality of food that they have to offer. I've tried the steaks and the burgers here. Loved everything that I've tasted here and of course, their signature Fried Oreo Ice Cream. Heavenly!

Must try: Seven Deadly Sins Sizzlers, Fried Oreos w/ Ice Cream and Coke Wings
