Sriram Sullia: Co-host Of The Explocity 1st Annual Spelling Bee

The Explocity 1st Annual Spelling Bee will be held on December 8, at the Jyoti Auditorium, Jyoti Nivas College, Koramangala. Over 500 children in the age group of 13-15, from over 200 schools will be taking part in the hunt for Bangalore's best speller. Registrations start at 9am and the competition begins at 9:45am.

Radio Indigo RJ Sriram Sullia, who will co-host the event along with RJ Melodee Austin speaks to the mascot of the event – the bee!

Were you a good speller in school?
My English Teacher (Molly Ma'am) at St Joseph's still remembers me! Not because I was her best pupil, but because I had once spelt Dr Martin Luther as Marti(A)n Luther! That pretty much sums up the kind of speller I was... But I was made to work hard at it and I shall forever remain thankful to her.

What was the toughest word you ever had to spell?
Pneumonic - every time I tried spelling the word in science class, it made me run out of breath!

What's your favourite English word?
'Metamorphosis'! To me it means physical, mental or spiritual evolution. Not to mention that it just sounds plain awesome. I also like the word 'Nirvana' because it means a happy place to me and it's the name of one of my favourite and most influential rock bands!

Any message for the young spellers you will meet on December 8?
Spelling right without the aid of technology is one of the biggest challenges in the modern world today. It's great to know that young spellers are taking strides, showing interest in stressing out words. Looking forward to witnessing what's going to be a fantastic day that will put the spellers to the test and bring out the best in them. Keep at it! It's a skill that can take you far.
