Will 98 Buildings be razed to save a hospital parking lot?

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is willing to realign its metro line following an impassioned plea by the director of Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research Premises.

Metro's plans to save a small portion of the hospital on Bannerghatta Road has become the cause for bother among thousands of residents. It not only drills a hole in the tax payers pockets since the project costs will shoot up by Rs 145 crore, but 98 buildings, including several high-rises, will also have to be pulled down.

Among the properties set to be pulled down in BTM Layout, Bannerghatta Road and Jayanagar 9th block East are an Infosys building with ground plus three floors, Gopalan Mall, Valtech IT Park and an office of On Mobile.
