ABOUT THE COLLECTIVE / ART DISPAY:
Artist Jojo celebrates the music and life of 15 legendary Jazz icons in the collection of graphite portraits in his 3rd solo art exhibition.
The series is inspired by the music and unique style of the musicians who carved out a space against all odds to shine in show business from the early 20s to the early 1990s with Jazz. The series portrays stalwarts who defined and redefined jazz from Dixieland to Swing to Bebop to Cool Jazz to Free Jazz. Today Jazz music continues to inspire many musicians and artists worldwide with its importance to mood and improvisation that separates it from other forms of music.
The musicians included in this unique collection are Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Nina Simone, Duke Ellington, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie, Benny Goodman, Charlie Parker, Coleman Hawkins, John Coltrane, Carmen McRae, Sarah Vaughan and Mary Lou Williams
You are invited to this month long celebration of Jazz music at Urban Solace. Catch the artist on the opening night of 9th June 2018 between 6pm and 9pm.
