Sublime Galleria is all set to unveil “Blossoms and Revelations”, a collection of fine art by celebrated artists Upasana Asrani and Vijayalakshmi Veerappan

Sublime Galleria, one of South India’s leading art galleries presents an exhibition of new works, by celebrated artists Upasana Asrani and Vijayalakshmi Veerappan. The exhibition ‘Blossoms and Revelations’ will open to the public on Saturday, 01 December 2018 from 6pm onwards and the paintings will be on display until 01 January 2019.

About Blossoms and Revelations

A creative collaboration between two versatile artists with diverse techniques and styles, this combined show brings together their personal narrative.

Vijayalakshmi is inspired by the multiple emotions going through her mind, while Upasana’s abstracts depict her personal journey of love, life, loss and lessons learnt. Fantasy, romance, love, gentle passion… isolating and observing each feeling with her mind and soul savoring the happiness, Vijayalakshmi’s paintings have an unfiltered flow. On the other hand, Asrani’s art is deeply rooted in an intuitive process of layering. Each canvas is a vivid visual of colour, texture and tells a story of her myriad experiences.

About the artists

Vijayalakshmi Veerappan grew up in an environment immersed in the arts. Her father Mr. Arun Veerappan was an independent documentary filmmaker while her grandfather Mr. A.V. Meiyappan, founder of AVM studios and productions Chennai, needs no introduction.

She discovered her passion for art simultaneously and majored in Fine Arts at the Stella Maris College, Chennai. She has worked in a variety of mediums from art on fabric to designing and painting on pottery. She has had several exhibitions showcasing her work in these two mediums. Her love for traditional art forms took her to Singapore where she studied Chinese art as well as to the Kumara Rajah Muthiah School of Traditional Arts and Crafts where she learned Tanjore painting.

Commenting on her upcoming exhibition, Vijayalakshmi said “Art has always been my first love and I have enjoyed painting in vibrant colors that reflect a positive nature. I use colors to express myself and connect to people. The pictorial narratives are powerful in their abstract voice. I am thrilled to showcase my recent collection of artworks in Bengaluru and look forward to a great response!”

Upasana Asrani, a self-taught abstract artist, found her calling in the depths of her canvas. Her works are a reflection of an amazing journey of self-discovery. Inspired by the positive response to her earlier shows, she has since signed up with Gallery Veda in Chennai to showcase her works and will be showing alongside emerging artists from the Middle East and Europe towards the end of 2019. Upasana’s works have been a part of several private and corporate commissions for boutique hotels, offices and residences.

“I feel immense gratitude for being able to express my deepest emotions through art. I hope to make art inclusive, interactive and an integral part of our everyday lives. The vibrant colours, interwoven with various textures convey the many facets of my experiences.” adds Upasana.
