Cholo Kolkata by Anita Anand-Book launch and discussion
March 21 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
About the book by Anita Anand:
Nikhil and Tara, living in Delhi have never been to Kolkata. Unexpectedly, they travel to the city and spend a week with the grandparents they have never seen before.
Their journey takes them to the historical sites Victoria memorial, the Botanical Gardens, the Nakhoda Mosque, the Armenian church and the Jewish Synagogue. They visit Kumartoli – the neighbourhood of potters, Jorsanko – the home of Rabindranath Tagore and Mother Teresa’s home.
They ride the legendary Kolkata tram and board a motor launch for a ride on the Hooghly river, passing under the Howrah Bridge.
They visit the famous Boi Para on College Street and have coffee and snacks at the well-known CoffeeHouse. They taste the fudge in Nahoum’s in New Market, and enjoy the goodies at Flury’s – the legendary pastry shop on Park Street. Their favourites are the street foods — the jhal muri, jilipees, aloo kachori and the legendary Bengali sweets — roshogolla and sandesh.
Join Nikhil and Tara on their magical journey to Kolkata.
