High tea at Oberoi stirs up more than tea. For every patron they want to stir up a memory. Remember the appealing Jam Drop Cookies you immediately picked, on entering a bakery as a kid? Remember a dollop of cream cheese frosting stuck to your nose when you bit into a red velvet cupcake? Chef Sangeet Panwar is new to Bangalore and showcases his talents with the quaint high tea concept in the gardens at Polo Club.
The colonial high tea is making its comeback. The Oberoi claims a lot of their patrons have requested a light snack in the evenings. The concepts attracts kitty parties and corporate crowd alike. And what with Bangalore weather mimicking the hill stations in which the British rulers originally enjoyed their teas.
Chef Sangeet has stayed traditional with his high tea. Eclairs, Macaroons, Hand Rolled Truffles, Lemon Meringue Tarts, and of course, cake- a Chocolate Orange Cake and a Carrot and Walnut cake- make up the top tiers of the tray.
Savoury items include Bacon Quiche, Cucumber Sandwiches, Pickled Egg Crostini, and Avocado, Tomato and Goat Cheese on whole wheat bread.
Scones with clotted cream pair well with their recommended tea list. Vanilla Bourbon, Moroccan Mint, Creme Caramel, an 1837 Green tea are some of the collection they have.
Coffee lovers have their pick from Hazelnut Cappuccino, Caramel Latte, Americano, and Cafe Mocha.
With a menu like this Chef Sangeet Panwar has convinced us of his skill and revamped the Oberoi patisserie menu.
