We all are familiar with the word cobbler. We’re even willing to name our favourite cobbler: Peach Cobbler, surely. But do you really know what is a cobbler?
First things first, it doesn’t have to be just peach. A cobbler is a sweet or a savoury pudding that is covered in biscuit, batter or pie crust and baked.
The dish originated in the UK and the name probably came from the word meaning “wooden spoon”. Possibly because during the war, soldiers didn’t have the culinary ability to make a proper pie and the mish mash method used to make it came out looking like a “wooden spoon” or a cobbler.
