Event Description
Attakkalari, in collaboration with the Bangalore International Centre, is preparing to host an open studio day on Saturday, 24 June 2023. This workshop will introduce participants to Attakkalari’s contemporary movement practice which is informed by contemporary dance and also draws its grammar and structure from embodied movement and somatic practices such as Yoga, Kalaripayattu, and Bharatanatyam. Attakkalari’s instructors will take participants through this 3-hour-long workshop. They will acquaint participants with fundamental and foundational movement vocabularies. Participants will be invited to explore the relationship of their bodies with these essential movement phrases. They will also be encouraged to train their focus on specific choreographic sets taken from Attakkalari’s creative repertory. The open day with Attakkalari is designed to give participants a first-hand experience to train with Attakkalari.
This workshop is FREE and open to everyone ages 16+ and above. All are invited.
