Join us for a screening of All About Our Famila, a documentary that offers an intimate look into the lives, vulnerabilities, and extraordinary resilience of Famila and other transgender people in Bengaluru. Directed by Chalam Bennurakar, the film foregrounds stories of survival, dignity, community, and resistance, shedding light on experiences that have often remained at the margins of public discourse.
More than a decade after its release, the film remains strikingly relevant to contemporary conversations around gender, visibility, rights, and belonging. Following the screening, QAMRA will present a special showcase featuring archival photographs of Familia, followed by a dialogue moderated by Dadpeer Jyman reflecting on the film and the evolving realities of transgender lives in India.
Through film and dialogue, this programme creates space for collective reflection, learning, and meaningful conversation around gender diversity, representation, and social justice.
All About Our Famila (2012) is directed by Chalam Bennurakar and produced by Rajiv Mehrotra. The film was commissioned and supported by Public Service Broadcasting Trust (PSBT India).
Presented in outreach partnership with Karnataka Swabhimana Habba 2026, organised by the Coalition for Sex Workers’, Sexual and Gender Minorities’ Rights (CSGMR).
