Alma Trio is an eclectic confluence of Indian and Spanish jazz fusion sounds, by virtuosic performers Carola Ortiz from Spain (Vocals & Clarinet), Vishnu R (Navtar) & Charu Hariharan (Indian & World Percussion).
Rooted in tradition and with a contemporary outlook, Alma Trio weaves a rich tapestry of string, wind and percussive elements that take listeners on a journey from India to the Mediterranean.

Carola Ortiz
Vocals & Clarinet
Carola Ortiz is a clarinet player, singer, percussionist, and composer from Spain (Barcelona). She has released four solo albums: SIRIN (2016), SPIRALA (2018), PECATA BEATA (2021), and CANTARERAS (2024), all acclaimed by the international press (Transglobal World Music Charts 2024, Best Albums of 2019, Independent Music Awards 2018).
She has toured North and South India in 2016, 2020, 2023, and 2024, collaborating with artists like Charu Hariharan, Debashish Bhattacharya, and Santosh Chandran.
With 30 years of experience playing the clarinet, she has performed in over 30 countries across Europe, America, Africa, and Asia, working on various projects in the Jazz & World Music international scene.
Vishnu R
Navtar
Vishnu R is an award-winning Indian Classical & Jazz Fusion performer, composer, and inventor of Navtar, a patented 9-string instrument blending Carnatic microtonality with Western harmony. His mastery of Indian Classical, Western Classical, and Jazz has earned him global recognition, with 600+ performances across India, Europe, and the USA.
A OneBeat Fellow (U.S. Govt.), India-UK Exchange Mentor (British Council), and recipient of Beyond Music International Project Winner, Karnataka Rajyotsava Award, and Trinity College London Grade 8 Distinction, Vishnu has performed on major platforms, composed for films, and spoken at events like the India Innovation Summit 2020.
He has collaborated with 5-time GRAMMY winners Michael League & Bill Laurance (Snarky Puppy), Umayalapuram Sivaraman, Vijay Prakash, Singer Srinivas, Guitar Prasanna, BC Manjunath, Ghatam Giridhar Udupa, and international artists like Denis Stern (Russia), Steve Zerlin (USA), and Ayman Boujlida (Tunisia).
Charu Hariharan
Percussion
Charu Hariharan is a versatile percussionist, singer, composer, and music producer rooted in Carnatic music. A master of Mridangam, Konnakol, and world percussion, she has collaborated with renowned artists worldwide.
She has performed at major festivals, including the Mahindra Percussion Festival 2024, where she opened with the Jenu Kuruba community. A OneBeat Fellow (U.S. State Department) and an artistic mentor for JMI International’s Ethno world music camps, she is also a core member of the World Folk Ensemble ‘Världens Band’, touring Europe since 2013.
Her collaborations span Academy Award winners MM Keeravani (RRR) and AR Rahman, as well as performances with Dubai’s Firdaus Orchestra. She has worked with artists like Ale Möller, René Lacaille, Panos Vassilopoulos, and Grammy nominee Pt. Debashish Bhattacharya, alongside Indian icons Sivamani, Stephen Devassy, Bindhumalini, and SS Thaman.
Featured on Coke Studio Tamil and a guest educator at Berklee College of Music (Valencia & Boston), Charu is endorsed by Harman – AKG and Gappu Percussions, seamlessly blending tradition with innovation on the global music stage.
