When grief becomes obsession.

After losing her husband under mysterious circumstances, Farah clings to his memory through the saplings he brought to their kitchen garden. But when rats threaten the fragile plants, and a land buyer threatens her home, Farah’s devotion spirals into dangerous obsession.

It is shot during Kashmir’s bleakest season, deliberately stripping away the region’s famous beauty to focus on something rarely seen in Indian cinema: the inner life of a Kashmiri woman, not the postcard landscape around her.

Following the screening will be a discussion with the Film Director, Rayit Hashmat Qazi and Research Analyst, Aishwaria Sonavane. The session will close with an audience Q&A.

Rayit Hashmat Qazi
Film Director
Rayit Hashmat Qazi is an independent filmmaker from Kashmir, who is currently working in Mumbai, India. He has worked as an assistant to International as well as Indian directors on TVC’s for the last 6 years. From Jim Sonzero to Rob Cohen and Harvey Brown, Rayit has been a right hand to a wide array of filmmakers while working with Bang Bang Films on brands as diverse as AIRTEL, Tanishq, Britannia, Pepsi, Loreal, etc. In addition to this Rayit has worked as an assistant director on the critically acclaimed Mukti Bhawan that went on to premiere at the Venice Film Festival amongst other international film festival giants.

Research Analyst for Pakistan Studies
Aishwaria Sonavane is a Research Analyst for Pakistan Studies at the Takshashila Institution. Her work focuses on counter-militancy, security, foreign policy, military-political nexus, and defence, with a broader regional emphasis on Afghanistan, India, and Pakistan.
