Event Description

Indian Institute of Cartoonists is organising an exhibition of cartoons by a celebrated International cartoonist Mr. Angel Boligan on 17th February 2025.

Born in Havana, Cuba in 1965, Mr. Angel Boligan was qualified as a Professor Instructor of Plastic Arts in Havana, Cuba in 1987. Since 1992 he has been residing in Mexico and has been working as an Editorial Cartoonist and illustrator for the Mexican newspaper 'EL UNIVERSAL' He is also regularly collaborating with different international media, among them the Argentine newspaper La Nación stands out, where he maintains a comic strip in the Sunday space of Opinion.

He has obtained the NATIONAL JOURNALISM PRIZE of Mexico on 3 occasions, in 2009, 2013 and 2019. Journalism award in the Cartoon category from the American Newspaper Group GDA 2013 for a drawing published in the Mexican newspaper El Universal. In 2016 he was awarded the LA CATRINA recognition, which is awarded to outstanding personalities of graphic humor in Latin America at the International Book Fair in Guadalajara, Mexico.

He won a Journalism award from the INTER-AMERICAN PRESS SOCIETY (SIP) 2023 for a drawing published in the Mexican newspaper El Universal. He has so far won 212 prizes, awards, mentions and recognitions in International caricature events and competitions.
