NINASAM Tirugata Play: Ankada Parade
Marathi Original: Abhirama Bhadkamakar, To Kannada: Jayantha Kaykini
Directed by: Vidyanidhi Vanarase (Prasad)
Ankada parade is set in an old age home where senior citizens are spending their final years. Although they face the loneliness and challenges of old age, the residents remain active and engaged in various ways. Desai, a content man despite being separated from his wife and children, supports his family financially and contributes to his son`s education. Nana Mai, a retired couple, reflects on their past efforts and their current, simpler life. Bhaiji, a lifelong social activist, and his wife Sevatai, who devoted her life to him, now spend their time reminiscing about their past. Janubhai, an elderly theatre artist, fondly recalls the excitement of his earlier years. Amidst them is a young man named Harsha, an aspiring actor who visits the old age home disguised as his father. He joins the residents and begins taking theatre lessons with them. Through his interactions and observations, the play transforms the reality of old age into a theatrical metaphor, exploring the wonder and complexity of life's later stages.
