Event Description
This session with architects Uday Andhare, Mausami Andhare and Bijoy Ramachandran focuses on the efforts of a practice to define design strategies aimed to make our built habitat resilient, thermally stable, economical and expressive of its concerns. The practice underscores the urgency for contemporary practices to define ways to respond to present needs, while drawing from conventional and interdisciplinary knowledge. To identify native genius and weave its value into the design process is seen as a vital tool. Recorded processes of building, farming, cooking, supportive allied crafts, systems of water use and livelihood become the resource to draw from and act upon. In this session, Uday and Mausami Andhare of indigo architects, Ahmedabad will talk about their work. This will be followed by a discussion with Bijoy Ramachandran of Hundredhands, Bangalore. There will be a Q&A session at the end of their discussion.
