Event Description

Alliance Française de Bangalore is hosting "Women of Bangalore", an art installation of a collection of 12 large scale portraits on dupion silk material. The Indo-French artist Olympe Ramakrishna captures Indian women and the essence of their duality between modernity and tradition.

Inspired by European portrait masters, the artist creates strong characters posing with symbolic accessories, thus constructing their own mise en scène.

Olympe Ramakrishna, originally hailing from France, chose India as her home and settled in Bangalore over a decade ago. Growing up in an artistic family, creativity was an integral part of her daily life. Olympe honed her artistic skills through seven years of life sketching and painting sessions in Paris, at prestigious institutions like Les Beaux-arts de Paris, the Academy of La Grande Chaumière, and the Artmedium Atelier of the 14th district. She also pursued studies in London at the Battersea Art Center.
