Event Description

An immersive lecture-demonstration conceived and presented by Bharatnatyam artiste, musician, and researcher, Jagadishwar Sukumar accompanied by a live music ensemble.

By weaving together research, artistic interpretation, and embodied performance, Ārūré offers an exploration of the Thiruvarur Thyagaraja Temple’s history, architecture, ritual practices, myths, and living cultural traditions. Sukumar draws inspiration from the compositions of Muthuswami Dikshitar, who documented the rituals and sacred moments, with remarkable detail in his compositions. Particularly significant is the Brahmotsavam festival, showcased through the expressive language of Bharatanatyam, music, storytelling, and contextual interpretation.

Temples are not merely places of worship but living repositories of history, art, music, dance, architecture, and collective memory.

Musicians:
Vocals: Srividya Ramnath
Nattuvangam: Keerthana Jayaprakash
