Attakkalari India Biennial invites registrations for the Writing on Dance Lab to be held from Jan 8 to 17, 2022 by German dance critic Melanie Suchy

Bengaluru: The Attakkalari India Biennial 2021-22 is hosting a virtual intensive on the craft of dance writing in January '22 called Writing on Dance Lab. To be held virtually from January 8 to 17, the intensive is designed for individuals who are interested in engaging in methods of documenting, writing, and archiving dance. Eight selected participants will be mentored by acclaimed German dance journalist and critic Melanie Suchy with dance practitioner and researcher Meghna Bhardwaj coordinating the entire workshop. Following the writing laboratory, participants will get a few one-on-one mentoring and feedback sessions with Suchy in February.

The schedule for the lab will have participants exploring spaces of thinking, articulating and reimagining dance, choreography and performance using media such as text, sketches, sounds and videos. The lab also brings an exciting chance for participants to interact with several international dancers, choreographers, dance collectives, and companies, who will be performing at the Biennial. They will also get a chance to pen three original articles for Attakkalari's online magazine, Ligament. Above all, they will receive an honorarium of Rs. 7500/- for their participation.

Those interested in applying, can register at: www.attakkalaribiennial.org/writing-on-dance.
