Event Description

Dates: 8 to 11 February 2023 (Over 4 days). Timings: 10:30 am to 5 pm (on each day). Who can apply: Artists/Creators across disciplines with a keen interest in the development of alternative/unconventional artistic formats. Deadline: 20 December 2022. Selected participants will be informed by: 2 January 2023. Conceived as a two-year research and transmission project devised by Sandbox Collective (Bangalore) and Trickster-p (Switzerland), and supported by ProHelvetia, Swiss Arts Council, New Delhi, Awaken the Sleeping Giants involves artists from both countries exploring hybridization and inter-species entanglements as possible keys to a future relationship between humans and other living forms, with a special focus and reflection on how new formats of public encounter can become vehicles for new models of participation and coexistence in the creation of artistic projects and practices. The workshop will involve 10 participating artists, and will be facilitated by the core group of art practitioners helming the biennial project Awaken the Sleeping Giants, their joint work will open perspectives for possible new formats of encounter with the public that can ground a different paradigm for artistic practice. This project is a partnership between Sandbox Collective, Bangalore and Trickster.P, Switzerland and supported by ProHelvetia, Swiss Arts Council, New Delhi and Bangalore International Centre.
