Bhoomija presents a truly special evening with one of India’s most revered theatre practitioners, B. Jayashree, in Saavirada Sharanavva, Stories and Songs—a deeply personal and evocative performance that brings together memory, music, and the magic of the stage.

More than a performance, this evening is a living archive of Kannada theatre. From her early beginnings on the legendary Gubbi Veeranna stage at the age of four to a lifetime of shaping generations of actors, musicians, and audiences, B. Jayashree’s journey is inseparable from the story of the art form itself.

In this rare show, she shares defining moments from her extraordinary life—stories that are by turns moving, mischievous, and magical. Interwoven with these narratives are iconic theatre songs that have resonated across Karnataka’s rich performance traditions, carrying with them the emotional and cultural memory of an era.

The evening is further enriched by a live musical ensemble led by the sensitive and versatile Praveen D. Rao, along with some of the finest musicians from the Kannada theatre and music world, creating a soundscape that is as immersive as the stories themselves.
