Sitar maestro Pandit Purbayan Chatterjee comes to Jackfruit 2024 with Beyond Boundaries: Elaboration in the Raag-Taal System and Fusion! The virtuoso facilitates a two-day intensive workshop that guides participants through the ins and outs of the raaga-taala system, opens them up to the various formats of instrumental music and their different aspects (focusing on phrasing), and explores the interactions between different musical genres and building bridges between them. Learn how to find intelligent ways to stay within the parameters of a raaga while also pushing the limits and avoiding repetition, and at the end of the two days, elevate your musical toolbox by taking away maneuverability in one instrumental bandish. A rare opportunity to learn from a master of the game! The workshop is open to anyone -

*Above 5 years of age *One year of experience in learning classical music (Vocal or instrument)

*Participants are invited to bring their instruments to the workshop. Also open to non-instrumentalists.

*Participants should carry a phone with a tanpura app installed.

*This is a two-day workshop and one ticket allows entry to both days; participants are expected to attend both sessions.
