What is KishtonmeinZindagi?
An anthology of Hindi poems.

What is different about this book?
There is something unique about the love for Hindi, in India. There’s hardly anyone who hasn’t loved a Hindi film or has never had a Hindi song stuck to his or her mind. But can they all read Hindi? Most would say,“no.”

Other than the Hindi speaking regions of our nation, the language is spoken, heard, or even sung, but rarely read. This book understands and solves this problem.

It respects the love that people have for Hindi poems. Whether it reaches them in the form of Bollywood songsor memes, they have shown love for pieces written in Hindi. And the emerging trend is to write these pieces in English script. Writersare choosing to follow this trend on Instagram too.

However, it is also understood that this is not a preferred method of communication among the native Hindi readers.

Hence to adapt to this trend, andto address the conflict, every poem in this book has been written in Hindi as well as English script. This is something that hasn’t been tried before. But it is not just an experiment.

This approach of the book unifies the readers, based on the love for the language, rather than dividing them due to regional differences. It is an attempt to organically make the romance around the language sustain, rather than forcing people to accept it.

Concept of the Book
Nothing lasts, but everything remains. Be it joy or grief, every emotion in life is momentary. Hence our experiences are fragmented. Kishton Mein Zindagi, or Life in Fragments is a meditative reflection of such a perspective in life.

About the Poet
Debdatta Bajpai is a creative director with DDB’s digital wing, 22 Feet Tribal Worldwide. Professionally she has worked on some of Indian’s topmost brands, like Titan, Britannia, ITC and more. However, personally she has always identified herself as a writer.

She has been writing poems since her childhood. Many of her poems have been published in online journals. After having collaborated with other poets on two anthologies, Kishton Mein Zindagi is her first solo anthology of poems.
