Promote Cycling for Health and Fitness
Bengaluru, Monday, November 22, 2021:Cycling has made a big comeback of sorts over the last 18
months, with the world realising the critical need for sustainable mobility. Bengaluru too has seen this shift,
and various initiatives are being launched to push this further. The Directorate of Urban Land Transport
(DULT) along with BBMP have helped in conceptualizing, planning, designing and implementing the bus
priority lanes and cycle tracks on the Outer Ring Road from Silk Board to KR Puram.
To promote and encourage citizens to use public transport/bicycles to commute between their workplace
and residence on Outer Ring Road, Rotary Bangalore IT Corridor (RBITC) in collaboration with DULT, BBMP
and BTP is organising ‘Cycle Bengaluru Cycle’ over this weekend. This event has been conceptualised to
help create awareness about the newly built cycle tracks and bus lanes on ORR and encourage citizens to
use them to help in reduction of traffic congestion besides benefits like environment, health etc.
The Cycle Bengaluru Cycle event will be held on Sunday, November 28, 2021 (between 7 am to 9 am)
between Silk Board and Lowry Adventist College, K R Puram. The cycle ride will start from the Bus Depot at
Silk Board Junction and will be for a distance of 16 Kms till Lowry Adventist College, KR Puram.
The expected number of participants for the event will be around 700+. The ride will be flagged off by BTP
Commissioner Dr. BR Ravikanthe Gowda, and Rotary District Governor Rtn. Fazal Mahmood along with
other dignitaries.
As part of this event, 50 pre-owned bicycles will be donated by YULU to girl students from Government
