"Chaityabhumi" explores the significance of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar's final resting place as a holy site for India's Dalit movement. This musical documentary examines how people commemorate December 6th at Mumbai's Chaityabhumi, highlighting its contemporary relevance to Dalit identity and empowerment.   

About the Filmmaker 

Somnath Waghmare is a Mumbai-based Dalit-Buddhist filmmaker and researcher pursuing his PhD at TISS. His works, including "Chaityabhumi," have been screened at prestigious institutions worldwide. He founded Begumpura Productions and co-founded the Ambedkarite song documentation project.
