Chiguru, a new theatre festival dedicated to original Kannada works, will take the stage at the Prestige Centre for Performing Arts (PCPA) from March 14-16, 2025. Curated by renowned theatre director Prakash Belawadi, the festival aims to foster fresh narratives and innovative storytelling in Kannada theatre.
Week two of the festival will feature six original productions by leading Bengaluru-based theatre groups, including Centre for Film and Drama (CFD), Sanchaya, Jangama Collective, Sanchari Theatre, VASP Theatre, and Bangalore Theatre Collective (BTC). Performances will be staged in PCPA’s intimate black box theatre, with matinee and evening shows.
Prakash Belawadi is a distinguished theatre artist, director, actor, and writer known for his contributions to Kannada theatre and cinema. He has been instrumental in shaping contemporary theatre, merging traditional narratives with modern themes. Beyond theatre, he is also a filmmaker, journalist, and activist, recognized for his work in culture, politics, and urban discourse.
