Movie star Gajasimha becomes a successful politician despite gangster Thimmaya’s traps. Karate expert Avinash and foreign secret agent Mary work to expose the criminals.

This month’s film featured in our informal film club is Chitegu Chinte (1978)

Chitegu Chinte, set in a fictitious country called Gajadweepa, is at once a razor sharp and a side splitting look at power and one man’s relationship with it. The film follows a superstar into his newly fashioned life of a politician.

A parody of the times that it was made in, it uses all the tropes and elements that made up popular mainstream cinema to give us a keen allegorical satire.
