Event Description

Chromatic Rhythms is a solo exhibition of paintings by abstract artist Prabhakar Kolte. Kolte brings his mesmerising abstract works to Bangalore showing his poetic visual language.

Prabhakar Kolte, often referred to as the "Paul Klee of India," is a master of abstraction, whose works speak through vibrant, rhythmic layers of colour and texture. His work transcends the boundaries of representation, drawing viewers into a contemplative journey of discovery. In Kolte’s paintings, colour is not just applied to the canvas but imbued with emotion, reflecting the ever-changing landscape of the human psyche. Each brushstroke carries a rhythm, like a poem or a musical composition, evoking life's shifting moods and colours.

The title Chromatic Rhythms aptly captures the essence of this body of work. Kolte’s carefully selected colour palette, often inspired by the natural world, pulsates with energy and movement. The canvases are a meditative reflection on the artist’s internal world, revealing themselves slowly, like the unfolding of a poem. This visual poetry resonates with a harmony akin to Tchaikovsky's delicate piano compositions, mirroring the changing seasons and the vastness of nature.

His abstract works reveal a deep sense of contemplation, likened to gazing through a window that frames the infinite meditations of nature. Through layers of thick and textured paint, Kolte navigates the complexities of inner tranquillity and life's commotion, creating works that are at once soothing and dynamic.

Kolte's innovative use of "weathering" techniques on the canvas, coupled with his mastery of abstraction, creates a sense of time and space in flux, where every element on the canvas holds deeper meaning. His work captures the essence of a meditative journey, inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and explore the possibilities of abstract expressionism.
