Event Description

Nilgiris: A Shared Wilderness, a feature-length wildlife documentary, is a story of hope, fragility, and interconnected futures, where humans and wildlife coexist within the blurred boundaries of a shared wilderness. Presented by Felis Films and Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies, and distributed nationwide by Dheeraj Films, the film released on July 18, 2025. It marked a milestone as the first feature length documentary to receive a nationwide theatrical release in India. It has won several international awards already.

Let’s go behind the scenes with director Sandesh Kadur and Executive Producer Rohini Nilekani to find out how and why the film was made. A short film about the making of the film, Nilgiris Field Diaries, will be screened. Moderator Rekha Menon will probe what lies ahead and whether India needs more such storytelling to conserve our precious biodiversity.
