‘Cluster Fig’ began during the slow days of the pandemic lockdown as an intimate monthly gathering of friends reading English poetry that had moved, unsettled or delighted us through the month. Named after a poem by Arvind Krishna Mehrotra, whose work many of us cherish, the series has always been an open, unthemed space for attentive listening and inspired reading. The community is thrilled to bring Cluster Fig into a physical setting at the BLR Design Centre and this in-person edition is dedicated to the luminous, incisive poetry of Mary Oliver. Mary Oliver’s radiant poetry — from a poet who transformed attention into an everyday ethical practice throughout her life — possesses such grace that truly noticing a heron lifting from a marsh, a blade of grass, a dog or a solitary walk through the woods forces us, rightfully, to confront the essential questions of being alive. Oliver’s poems are deceptively simple, yet they dismantle our certainties, leading us toward humility, wonder and a fierce love for the living world. In an age built to reward distraction, her poetry asks us to patiently look longer, listen more carefully and live more deliberately. We invite you to spend a Sunday afternoon immersed in some of Oliver’s unforgettable poems. All poetry-lovers are welcome! This is a ticketed event. Individual Entry fee: 600/
