Marialena Fernandes performs what she calls ‘Structured Miniatures’: Bagatelle – Prelude – Intermezzo – Rhapsody Each of these forms brings rich narration into a short, complex space, yet they are quite different from each other and each is distinct in its characteristics. Among the composers who Marialena will perform, some had lived in Vienna and others were influenced by its musical culture. It so happens that many of the compositions were also their last pieces of wisdom. In collaboration with: Supported by: Performer Marialena Fernandes Pianist Marialena Fernandes has been living in Vienna for the past 50 years and is proud to be a musical bridge between India and Austria. She studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, where she completed her Master’s, Doctorate and Diploma in Concert Performance. She is currently Professor of Chamber Music there and has travelled extensively around the world with Solo, Chamber Music and Orchestral concerts. Her diverse repertoire includes multiple cross-over projects and improvisation with classical, ethnic and pop genres. Her passion lies in sharing her artistic creativity, stimulating an interaction between artist and audience and breaking borders between stage and hall.
