Event Description

Summer Program April 16th - May 3rd To allow children to discover the world of storytelling. One can either read a story from a book, tell it with your imagination, show it with puppets, use props or with a combination of the above. It's also just a form of play and a way for children to be engaged in extremely productive and creative ways. Storytelling enhances thinking skills and improves awareness. Children experience the world from other people’s shoes, express their points of view, understand sequencing, and strengthen memory skills. They need to communicate well, play a specific role, allow others to play their roles, share and take turns, and follow the agreed rules, as they play with a common goal. Children will be grouped in 2’s or 3’s write a story, choose how to present it (either a play, puppet, etc) and work on their presentation for 12 days. This is a joint workshop with some children from the Makkala Masti program participating as well, the idea being that we have children from diverse backgrounds who will learn to engage with each other.
