Event Description

CREATED IN ITALY; The Aptitude for the Impossible (L’attitudine per l’impossibile), is a journey through Italian industrial design, creativity and expertise presented by The Consulate General of Italy, Bengaluru. The exhibition brings together many individual stories, in an attempt to outline the characteristics of Italy’s diverse production. Among these are a stubborn search for perfection, a renowned spirit of invention and a constant urge to experiment and to force the limits of materials. Others include the pleasure derived from a product well made, the everyday effort to improve people’s lives, and a delight in things of beauty, in lives fully lived. Plus a generous response to challenges, a flair for making “tailored” products, and a knack for adapting processes and technologies.

The exhibition seeks to offer a broad picture of the Italian industrial system. Without claiming to be exhaustive, it introduces the staggering variety of artefacts that Italy has managed to create. The heterogeneity of Italy’s industry reflects the diversity of a natural landscape that is astonishingly unique in its wealth of differences (from snowy Alps and warm beaches to active volcanoes and pristine islands), not to mention its rich history and cultural heritage. From this perspective, CREATED IN ITALY intends to illustrate the importance of such complexity, and its impact on the country’s industrial products and traditional, state-of-the-art craftsmanship.

The exhibition has been conceived by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, designed by Studio Mario Trimarchi and curated by Compasso d’Oro winners Odo Fioravanti, Giulio Iacchetti and Francesca Picchi.
