Event Description

The Creative Writing Workshop at Lahe Lahe is designed to overcome common writing errors and stereotypical forms of writing – and discover your voice as a writer. The tasks in the Creative Writing Workshop emerge from intriguing and provocative readings from around the world, the likes of which inspire one’s ability to craft persuasive and succinct passages of fiction. There will be plenty of writing and a larger project directed towards writing a short story, which you will submit after the class. The workshop is oriented towards writers at any stage of their literary journey. You can be a beginner or a seasoned writer, the class is made to enhance your unique sense of expression. Each piece of fiction will be workshopped by your peers and by the facilitator. Apart from written feedback, your writing will also be discussed critically in the class and placed within the wider conversation of literature. You can bring along any other pieces of writing that you wish to share with the class and receive feedback for the same. The facilitator shall act as your mentor beyond the class and continue to send you writing exercises, feedback, suggestions and readings that will help you grow as a writer. The workshop is open to anybody who is sixteen years of age and above. All the material for the workshop will be provided by the facilitator. The workshop is six hours long over two days. It will be conducted by Abhishek Udaykumar. Abhishek is a writer, filmmaker and artist and a graduate of Royal Holloway University of London where he did English and Creative Writing on a Global Scholarship Programme. He writes novels, short stories and essays, makes documentaries and fiction films and paints in different styles.
