“You were not just born to center your entire existence on work and labor. You were born to heal, to grow, to be of service to yourself and community, to practice, to experiment, to create, to have space, to dream, and to connect.”
― Tricia Hersey, Rest Is Resistance: A Manifesto
This is a gathering where we will sink into rest as a theme, rest as an activity, rest as a way of unravelling from exploitative systems, rest as portal to other worlds, to dreams.
This gathering will use as its starting point, the book Rest as Resistance, written by Tricia Hersey, who draws from her black ancestry in writing about how rest pushes back and disrupts a system that views human bodies as a tool for production and labour, driving the entire globe to exhaustion and a deep disconnection with our bodies and minds.
Join us in this gathering to find a moment to be carried by a space outside of the non-stop labour, where naps are sacred.
Come, Gather, Reflect, Relax.
Resist.
