Event Description

Inspired by Living Botanicals, this hands-on workshop invites participants to slow down and observe the colours, textures and changing forms of plants before translating these observations into crochet. Beginning with a guided exploration of the exhibition, participants will learn beginner-friendly crochet techniques to create cascading wisteria blossoms and intertwining vines.

Through the slow, repetitive act of stitching, the workshop explores ideas of growth, seasonality and transformation. Individual creations will come together as a collaborative installation, reflecting the exhibition’s themes while celebrating collective making, close observation and the many ways craft can deepen our engagement with the natural world.

Dr. Aishwarya
Facilitator

Dr. Aishwarya is a doctor, educator, solo founder and self-taught crochet artist whose practice is inspired by botanical forms and slow, intentional making. Through crochet, they explore the intersection of observation, creativity and craft, creating floral works that transform yarn into studies of nature. Their workshops aim to make crochet accessible to beginners while encouraging curiosity and playful experimentation.
