Cybercrimes against women & children; cyber frauds and the role law plays to prevent, protect & punish.
Technology can neither be eschewed nor ignored. It’s part of our everyday life and whilst the digital immigrants have evolved and adapted, the millennials – the digital natives, are born to it and assume it to be a part of their life. Cyber hygiene and safety measures are now required to become a normalised approach to adapting to technology. With the continuum of violence seen to transgress onto online domains from the physical one, law’s role in ensuring protective and punitive measures to deter and punish online crimes has become imperative. Online violence against women, children and the marginalised is toxic and terrifying and are far more challenging to legislate for and to enforce.
Join the conversation with N. S. Nappinai, Advocate, Supreme Court of India, Author & Founder – Cyber Saathi, moderated by Padmini Ray Murray, Founder – Design Beku, as they discuss cyber hygiene, cyber safety and the journey leading to Cyber Saathi, a think – do tank involved in cyber policy making and providing a reliable comprehensive resource on cyber laws. They will also talk about how the consensus mechanism in Prajwala v. Union of India, wherein Nappinai is assisting the Supreme Court as Amicus Curiae, has helped shape laws for social media platforms in India.
Nappinai will share case laws and anecdotes to explain protective measures and guide the audience on remedies available in Indian law.
