In Dastan-e-Sahir, we, in an artistic way present before you a life sketch of Sahir Ludhianvi, the legendary urdu poet and film lyricist of the superhit songs- Abhi na jao chodh kar, kabhi kabhi mere dil mein khayal aata hai, main zindagi ka saath nibhata chala gaya, main pal do pal ka shayar hun. etc. The dastan encapsulates his professional and personal struggles, love life, family issues, successes, failures and his everlasting appeal amongst the masses. With his incisive writing, Sahir remains the most loved and most popular Bollywood lyricist even today. Through Sahir’s own poetry and incidences shared by his friends as well as contemporaries, we try to shed light on multiple shades of life and the literary stature of one of the most celebrated poet and lyricist- Sahir Ludhianvi. The dastan is an attempt to present before the audience the essence of Sahir’s individualism, self-esteem, humanism, as well as his quirks and maverick attitude.     About the Artists   Dr. Himanshu Bajpai is one of India’s leading dastangos, known for over 300 performances worldwide, including at Harvard and on Netflix’s Sacred Games. Honored by former President Ram Nath Kovind, Himanshu's work in storytelling extends to his bestselling book Qissa Qissa Lucknowa, awarded the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar. With a PhD on Lucknow's historic Naval Kishore Press, he writes extensively on the city’s culture and conducts engaging heritage walks.    Dr. Pragya Sharma, Lucknow's first female dastango, transitioned from a career in economics to become a full-time storyteller in 2020. With around 200 performances, she brings depth to tales like Jhansi ki Rani and Sahir Ludhianvi, inspiring others—especially women—to pursue Dastangoi. Pragya’s nuanced storytelling beautifully captures the complexities of human nature.
