Event Description

Shilpa Shanker Narain and Roman Das present an evening of music based on rare writings of the legendary musician and composer, Tansen.

The presentation not only talks of the compositions of Tansen but combines it with the scriptural understanding and knowledge of Rāga Sangeet and is presented in the Dhrupad Genre.

     Excerpts from Tansen’s Raag Saar highlighting the details of Naad in raga music presented in Raag Bhopali; Extract from the rare Musical treatise Sangeet Benode written in 1913.
    Tansen composition in stool taal in Raag Sohini; Written by Tansen when his interest moved away from the court of Akbar.
    Tansen’s composition in Chautaal Dhrupad in Raag Malkauns performed in traditional Dhrupad format – Alaap jod jhaala & bandish.
