Event Description

Vipul Rikhi will be in conversation with Gurupriya Atreya, discussing his new book on Kabir, Drunk on Love. The discussion will focus on the figure of the famous 15th century Bhakti-Sufi poet Kabir, and his life and philosophy. The session will include some songs of Kabir sung by Vipul, as well as Q&A with the audience. In collaboration with: Speakers Vipul Rikhi Writer, Poet & Storyteller Vipul Rikhi is a writer, singer, poet, storyteller and translator immersed in the oral traditions of Kabir and other mystic poets for over a decade. He sings mystic poetry in the folk music traditions and performs widely. He has authored several books, including a novel, a collection of poems, and a book of translations from the Bhakti, Sufi and Baul traditions. His latest book is Drunk on Love, on Kabir’s life and philosophy, with HarperCollins India. You can read more about him here. Gurupriya Atreya Singer Gurupriya Atreya is a singer, voice artiste and an arts curator. Trained in Indian classical music since her childhood, she is currently a disciple of Ustad Faiyaz Khan. Staying rooted in the classical & semi-classical music traditions, she lends her voice to singing playback for films, commercial jingles & voice overs. Sing a lullaby, a project launched as an offering in the pandemic, was started by Gurupriya and her dear friend, Vedanth Bharadwaj. They conducted a year long workshop, teaching lullabies in languages from India and around the world.
