Event Description

The Elephant Whisperers made history by becoming the first Indian documentary to win an Oscar. The film tells the story of an indigenous couple, Bomman and Bellie, as they care for an orphaned baby elephant, and explore the precious bond between the animal and his caretakers.

Kartiki Gonsalves is an Academy Award-winning Director and Filmmaker. Gonsalves is the founder of Earth Spectrum, an organisation founded in 2018, which uses the power of storytelling to raise awareness about biodiversity and cultural life. The screening will be followed by a conversation on Bio-Diversity between the filmmaker and the ecologist Prof. Raman Sukumar.
