Event Description

This performance of Indian Classical Music featuring Arnab Bhattacharya on the Sarod, presenting an Evening Melody, accompanied by Nilimesh Chakraborty on Tabla. The performance will commence with an Alaap or Introduction, followed by a rhythmic cycle where the tempo gradually builds to its peak. Experience a musical dialogue between melody and rhythm, enriched with moments of question and answer. Supported by: Performers Arnab Bhattacharya Sarod Arnab Bhattacharya embarked on his journey with the sarod at a very tender age, guided by his father, Swapan Bhattacharya. Subsequently, he came under the mentorship of Pandit Buddhadev Dasgupta. It was under the guidance of his guru that Arnab achieved acquired a deep understanding of the rich repertoire of the Senia Sahajahanpur Gharana. He is a regular artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan and an empanelled artist of ICCR & Spic Macay. He has collaborated with numerous internationally renowned musicians, including Sanjar Naki Kov (Uzbekistan), Rydlin (South Africa), Eshani Lasya (Portugal), Fabris (Mauritius), Nelbucktower (Mauritius), Shafin Ahmed (Bangladesh), and many others for his compositions and World Music. Arnab received the Best Music Director award for the background score of the short film “Life after Death” from the Berlin Short Film Festival, Portugal Short Film Festival, and various other platforms. Nilimesh Chakraborty Tabla Nilimesh Chakraborty, born into a musical lineage, commenced his musical journey at the tender age of 2 under the guidance of his uncle, Sri Ajay Chakraborty, and later, with Shri Debasish Majumder, a disciple of the late Pt. Shankar Ghosh. At the age of 13, he became a disciple of Pt. Swapan Siva of the Farrukabad Gharana. His has performed at various festivals and concerts such as the Kalpadip Festival in Jalpaiguri, NCPA in Mumbai, NCRA in Pune, performances at CCRT and the Indian Habitat Centre in Delhi, engagements at Tezpur University and Hojai in Assam, and appearances at renowned institutions like Pracheen Kala Kendra in Chandigarh, ICCR, and SRA in Kolkata, among others.
