Exploring the Magic of Street Theatre by Pallavi Chander April 10 to 23 For children between 10 and 12 years of age Time: 10 AM to 4 PM Fees: Rs 10,000 Synopsis: Children will be introduced to basics of drama through body, voice and movement exercises through fun drama games and activities. We will delve into aspects of enactment, projective play and embodied learning to break inhibitions and build group rapport. The highlight of the workshop will be street theater and will focus on exploring spontaneity, improvisation and building narratives. Participants will eventually create short pieces on social issues that they feel strongly about. In these short performances, we could have puppets, masks, banners, songs or slogans, along with a narrative on a social message. The developed pieces will be showcased at the end as a presentation of their explorations in the workshop. The workshop aims to create a safe and non-judgmental environment for the participants to share, learn and unlearn. Throughout the workshop, children will be encouraged to bring in their own ideas and creativity into the process. Pallavi Chander, an artist and creative arts therapist, based in Bangalore. She is passionate about using the arts with communities and believes the arts provide a reflective container for emotional, physical and mental wellbeing. Pallavi is a Sesame trained Drama and Movement therapist and Arts-Based Therapist. She works with children and adults with diverse abilities, caregivers and young people challenged with mental health concerns. She currently practices under her initiative, ‘Turiya’ where she uses drama, movement, visual arts, storytelling, music, play and mediation to facilitate creative processes for psycho-social interventions and compassion-based treatments. She offers group and individual sessions to integrate creativity and imagination in learning spaces, for therapy and healing.
