Over the course of the night, they'll be delving neck-deep into African music by exploring music from the last five decades that isn’t traditionally built for the dance floors along with contemporary dance music that is considerably under-represented in India. No more playlists off Spotify! 

For the African music exploration, the night starts with playing old jazz and funk records from Ethiopia, Nigeria, Senegal, Ghana, and Cameroon slowly processing into afro disco records. When it comes to filling the dance floors with contemporary dance music that is under-represented in the scene, broken African rhythms from GQOM, Kuduro, SOCA, Singeli, Demobow, and Dancehall are weaved with constant twists and turns.

About Focus Group Radio

Focus Group Radio or FGR, as they're (fondly) referred to, organizes regular music listening parties curated by musicians, artists, and anyone with something new to listen to. The idea is to help people explore new music and expand their spectrum. The Radio started their sessions online during the pandemic, but you'll find them hosting live parties at Mount Road SOCIAL, Chennai once every month.
