Folk & Tonic is an all-women vocal ensemble from Bangalore, formed in 2017, with a deep passion for vocal music and the exploration of harmonies from across the world.
Our repertoire spans multiple regions and languages including English, Russian, Japanese, Hebrew, African traditions and more. Each musical culture carries its own rhythms, tonal colours and harmonic language, and we bring these together through thoughtfully crafted vocal arrangements.
Concert at Sabha
This 90-minute concert is designed as a musical journey across borders and traditions. Expect rich, tightly woven harmonies, dynamic textures, and songs that travel through continents while staying rooted in the power of the human voice.
While our voices remain at the centre of the experience, select pieces are enhanced with classical guitar, keyboard and percussion, adding depth and dimension to the performance.

Anisha Chandy - Soprano
Anisha Chandy, a seasoned vocalist, commenced her journey in singing and Classical music at the age of 12. Holding a Licentiate Diploma from the Trinity College of London, she has cultivated a diverse repertoire spanning classical and classical crossover genres. Anisha has showcased her talents both solo and collaboratively with various groups. Notably, she has collaborated with renowned figures in the film industry, including AR Rahman and Illaiyaraja . Her passion for languages and world music has led to her association with Folk & Tonic, marking it as one of her most cherished professional experiences.
Deepa Jacob - Mezzo Soprano
Deepa began singing at the age of 7 and has since performed, recorded and toured with some of Bangalore’s top choirs, bands, and musicians. A sultry crooner with a flair for the dramatic, she also occasionally dabbles in the weird and wonderful world of musical theatre. Nothing makes her quite as happy as weaving her voice into an intricate harmonic tapestry a joy that finds great satisfaction with Folk & Tonic
Sowmya Raghavan - Alto
Sowmya Raghavan founded and led BBC, which today has evolved to Folk & Tonic . She now sings alto for the ensemble, bringing her love for world folk traditions and layered harmonies into the group’s evolving sound. She began singing on stage at the age of 7. By 16, she was singing with pop and rock and pop bands across the city, steadily building her presence in the live music circuit. With a strong love for rock, metal, blues and folk music, Sowmya is known for her powerful stage presence and vocal depth.
Nora Alexy - Contra Alto
Nora Alexy has been singing since the age of 8, with roots in western classical music and an 8th grade certification from Trinity College, London. She has performed widely with choirs and choral ensembles across Chennai, such as the Madras Musical Association and Chromatics. College marked the beginning for her love for intricate and complex vocal harmonies, which she continues to dabble in with Folk & Tonic. She is thrilled to be exploring the vocal nuances that come with the group’s repertoire of world folk music.
Siddharth Suresh - Keyboard
Siddharth's blend of technical prowess and musical sensitivity not only unravels intricate musical challenges but also raises the bar in our pursuit of finesse. With over a decade of experience in diverse genres, particularly jazz and contemporary music, His strength lies in vocal and ensemble arrangement, as well as music composition. A recipient of a Jazz Piano diploma from Swarnabhoomi Music Academy, Siddharth shares his expertise as a music instructor at Bangalore International School, specialising in piano and music theory for middle and high school students.
Varun Krishna – Classical Guitar
Varun Krishna is a classical guitarist whose distinctive approach blends traditional Baroque styles with contemporary flamenco influences. His repertoire reflects a deep respect for classical traditions, and his eagerness to explore modern styles has led him to participate in masterclasses and guitar festivals across Europe. Varun’s commitment to learning and growth adds a rich layer of instrumental texture to the ensemble's performances.
Sanket Chakraborty - Percussion and FOH
Sanket Chakraborty is a versatile drummer, percussionist, and sound engineer, known for his dynamic style and deep musicality. As the drummer and producer for AKOG, Sanket has made a name for himself, becoming a sought-after freelance drummer for numerous bands and artists across the country. His sensitivity to music, combined with a rich understanding of grooves and culturally rooted rhythms, makes him an exceptional fit at Folk & Tonic. Sanket’s unique ability to blend technical precision with emotional depth allows him to seamlessly adapt to various musical styles, adding a powerful layer to every performance.
