Gangamma Neerinage is a guttural cry from the land, to wash away the stains of untouchability and caste based discrimination, for the desire of freedom and equality. The performance confronts the current era of untouchability, discrimination and ignorance which exists even in the so-called modern era. This is in violation of the wishes of the constitution. ‘Gangamma Neerinage Jade Henita Avle’ is based on true events that are aired everyday on TV channels and appear in the newspaper. The performance stays true to the writing of Baba Saheb Ambedkar which alerts us to upcoming disasters, if society continues to exist in this way. The performance is born as a guttural cry from the spirits of land and water, of timeless origin, who emerge to wash away the stain of discrimination. Singing Bhinna Bedhava Madabyadiri and Maateyare Manne Vadatiyragiddaga, toward the desire for freedom, equality and sisterhood, the performance depicts emancipation and resistance.
