Book Reading Club of Rajendra Sinhji Officers Institute (RSAOI, also referred to as RSI) is hosting the launch of General’s Jottings, the first book written by former Army Commander, Lt Gen KJ Singh on 8th November (Friday).  The book is a curated compilation of the noted columnist and would serve as a handy primer and ready reference, on national security and geo-politics. The book is laid out in easy to access sections, covering contemporary strategic issues like the standoff on Sino-Indian border, the Proxy-war in J&K and other insurgencies. Very well illustrated with maps, graphs and tables, it also has interesting compilations like the one on Khaki-Generals, mapping idiosyncrasies of Pakistani top brass. It also covers complementary issues of geo-economics like Indus Water Treaty (IWT) and China Pak Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The author has penned more than 300 articles/columns in the last seven years, since his “re-attirement”, after donning the uniform for 50 years.  This includes decade of schooling and training in Sainik School and military academies. The author reiterates that old soldiers, while fading out must play many more innings and share experiences with society. Gen KJ, has served in many challenging areas as also in the UN peace building mission in Angola. During his tenure as Brigadier in Strike Corps, his formation was responsible for security of Peninsular India. More recently, he successfully completed his Ph D last year and has been Maharaja Ranjit Singh Chair Professor in Panjab University.  He has also had stints in public policy as Advisor to CM and State Information Commissioner.
