Event Description

Don Marquis said, “Publishing a volume of verse is like dropping a rose petal down the Grand Canyon and waiting for the echo.” Hashiye Ke Pare (Beyond the Margins), published by Atta Galatta is an anthology of Hindi-Urdu poems, written by poets residing in Bangalore. 32 poets have dropped 77 rose petals in this anthology, launched at the 2023 edition of the Bengaluru Poetry Festival. The anthology has been compiled and edited by Mohit Kataria, a published poet. The poems fall into multiple categories where poets have reflected upon eternal questions of mankind including the meaning of life, existence, love and death. In these poems you’ll find many shades of love. There are questions raised in the softest of voices as well as with clenched fists in a manner only a poet can raise. There is an equal representation of female poets in the anthology and in fact, each of the seven sections of the book start with a poem by a female poet. The cover is designed by an accomplished illustrator, Harsh Marathe and the sketches within the book are done by Anu Verma Kataria. This anthology is a continuation of the poetry published in the first of it’s kind anthology titled “Karn Kavita”, compiled and edited by poet Sourav Roy, published by Atta Galatta in 2016. The idea of publishing Hindi-Urdu poetry, by poets residing in Bangalore, becomes reality only with the love of poetry, in its true sense, without limiting yourself to any one language. Since it’s release, poetry from “Hashiye ke Pare” has been presented in multiple forums such as the Bengaluru Poetry Festival, Atta Galatta and other venues across the city.
