Event Description

This Saturday the 26th, 'RS Connect' in collaboration with Indian Music Experience, brings to you 'Hariyannarisida Vaniteyaru' by Medha Manjunath.

 

Medha in her performance 'Hariyyannarisida Vaniteyaru’, will be singing compositions of Mahila Haridasaru on Lord Hari which is conceptualized and musically composed by Vid. Dr.Sukanya Prabhakar.

 

Dasa sahitya has contributed and enriched Kannada sahitya abundantly. Haridasas have embedded philosophical aspects and life preachings in their compositions in a simple and beautiful way which reaches janasamanyas and lead them towards the beautiful and right path of life.

 

 There were many Mahila Haridasaru during 18th century among them Gala Gali Avva was the first. Yadugiriyamma, Harapanahalli Bheemavva, Helavanakatte Giriyamma, Ambabai, Saraswathi Bai, etc. have composed various Devaranamas on different deities.

 

About Medha:

Medha is a classical singer who has trained under Vid. Dr. Sukanya Prabhakar, Vid.Anoor Ananthakrishna Sharma, and Vid. L. Subramaniam. She has an M A in Music from Jain University affiliated with Subramaniam Academy of Performing Arts (SAPA), and now works there as a teacher.
